We Unbox The New TASER® C2!
|
|

09 Nov 2007
We unbox the new $350 TASER C2 that almost anybody can get. That is if you're not in wrong standing with the law and you don't live in one of the few states that prohibit owning one. Follow along as we explore the new TASER C2.

This is the packaging.
It is a good looking, clean package. But it's in that hard 'clam shell' plastic that everyone hates. The package looks like it could belong in any electronics store. But it is only available through TASER approved dealers.
And here is the back.

|
|
| |
Inside the package.
Inside is a manual, DVD Instructional Movie, a C2 Cartridge, and the TASER C2 Stun Gun. The cartridge is shipped in its own little clear plastic housing. We assume that this is to get it through all of the regulations of transportation it.

The Battery
The battery is shipped in the TASER C2 body. Now the official name is a 'Lithium Power Magazine'. But it is still a non-rechargeable battery.
You have to squeeze the sides of the battery to get it out of the TASER C2 body.
You really don't have to remove it, but we did because we want to see everything.

There is only one way to inset the battery to make the stun gun work.
This digital power magazine holds about 50 shots. More than anybody will ever use for self protection.

The Cartridge
The front of the cartridge is where the 'Barn Doors' are. They burst wide and clear to allow the probes to shoot out.
If you look carefully on the side you can see the fine wire wrapped inside the housing. This wire is shot out with the probes to give the probes the electrical charge that makes the TASER so effective.

The electrical contacts are on opposite sides of the cartridge. This enables you to load it and not have to worry if it is upside down.
The sides have squeezable clips that will be used to attach the cartridge to the body of the TASER C2.

Inserting the Cartridge
By squeezing the sides of the cartridge, you can 'load' the TASER C2.
It is important that you never have your hand in front of the cartridge when you are inserting the cartridge. The last thing you want is those probes stuck in you palm.
You can also see the two holes on the bottom. One is for the LED Light and the other is for the Laser Sight.

Top View with Door Open
Behind the door on the top is the thumb trigger.
It is blinking red because we need to activate the Stun Gun. Without the activation, it will not work. Once we enter the code it will then be green.
Activation is done by calling an 1-800 phone number. You enter the activation code with this trigger button. It sounds funky, but it really is not a problem.

The Manual
The manual give you enough information without being a technical read. There are a lot of warnings and cautions that you can not ignore.

Next to the TASER X26c
Finally we place it next to its big brother, the TASER X26c, the civilian version of what the cops have.
In reality we find the TASER C2 easier to quickly to get our hand into a firing position.
